Postural Correction
Good posture maintains flexibility, strength and helps prevent injury. Not only do I look at static posture but also functional movements. When someone has chronic pain they often change their pattern of movement which causes more problems!
Soft tissue release / myofasical release
Soft tissue mobilisation involves breakdown of scar tissue that’s is formed from injury. Myofascial is used to allow the connective tissue that binds our muscles together to move freely. These techniques are great for almost every painful condition
Acupuncture
I use form of dry needling which is very effective at releasing painful tight muscles and is not painful for the patient – ideal for neck / shoulder / pelvis / hips and legs.
Joint mobilisation/manipulation
These are used to release stiff joints in the spine and peripheral joints … great for arthritic joints and postural problems
Taping
I use two forms kinesiology tape is fantastic and re educating muscles I use this lots of knee and shoulder problems Zinc oxide tape is effective to support sprain ligaments
Strengthening / core
I use specific exercises to regain agility , stability and strength. I am Pilates trained so often use Pilates based exercises . When one muscles is shortened or tight another is weak!
Cognitive behavioural / functional therapy
Research has shown in the chronic pain setting the way our brain interpret pain changes. This approach is to get you thinking and moving in a way that will reduce your pain. This has approach has been used more in physiotherapy to help chronic pain suffers.
